This week’s CLA Summit prompted excellent technical discussions about build and deployment workflows, but another common topic was the need for improved collaboration among the user community.
The call-to-action from this discussion was for community members to utilize industry standard tools and workflows to share and collaborate on projects and reuse libraries, such as GitHub and BitBucket.
Coincidentally, the NI Systems Engineering group just published a tutorial on using LabVIEW with Git, which they posted to GitHub (of course!). GitHub and LabVIEW Hands-On Tutorial.
The team responsible for this content has overseen the development of the NI’s Distributed Control and Automation Framework (DCAF), which has been entirely developed and managed on Git Hub. In addition to the collaborative development, this exemplifies the integration of continuous integration workflows and online code reviews.
